Resting Dream Face
A slow, somatic practice for facial release, nervous system rest and deep settling.
We hold so much in our faces without even realising it.
A clenched jaw. Raised shoulders. A furrowed brow. Tension around the eyes. The tiny muscles that stay switched on long after the stressful moment, busy day or endless screen time has passed.
Resting Dream Face is an invitation to soften some of that holding.
What happens in the session
This 90-minute practice combines gentle self-massage and facial release with breath, somatic awareness and deep guided rest. We work primarily with the shoulders, neck, jaw, head and face — slowing things down enough to notice where tension has gathered and giving the body time and support to let some of it go.
We begin seated, taking a little time to arrive and notice how you’re feeling. From there, I’ll guide you through a slow facial, jaw and neck release using your own hands, alongside simple breath and somatic practices.
Then we get really comfortable.
The final part of the session is spent lying down for an extended guided rest, often weaving in yoga nidra, allowing the practice to settle without needing to do anything else.
What it is not
This is not a beauty treatment or face-fixing practice.
It’s about regulation, rest and coming back into the body.
What might we explore?
🌀 Gentle facial self-massage
🌀 Jaw, neck and shoulder release
🌀 Breath and somatic awareness
🌀 Small, slow movements
🌀 Optional tapping or EFT-inspired practices
🌀 An extended guided rest / yoga nidra
There is very little movement, no complicated poses and nothing you need to get right. You’ll spend most of the session seated comfortably or lying down, and you can pause, adapt or simply rest at any point.
Is it yoga? Is it face yoga?
Not really.
You may recognise elements from yoga, breathwork and facial yoga — all practices I draw upon — but Resting Dream Face isn’t a traditional yoga class or a facial exercise routine.
And despite the name, this isn’t a beauty treatment or about changing how your face looks.
The face is simply our way in.
Somatic practice is about paying attention to the body and the information it gives us. By noticing sensation, breath and tension — rather than trying to think our way into relaxing — we create an opportunity to reconnect with the body and respond to what it needs.
You don’t need any previous experience of yoga, meditation or somatic practice. In fact, this will be a new kind of practice for many people.
Come into the studio and everything will be set up ready for you — mats, bolsters, blankets and props — so you can simply arrive and settle in.
There’s no rush, no pressure and nothing to perform.
Just somewhere comfortable to land for 90 minutes.
