My Story.
I started Big Love Movement after years of silently struggling with anxiety, grief, and burnout. For a long time, I didn’t have the language—or support—I needed. That journey eventually led me to create the space I wish I’d had when I needed it most.
From a young age, I struggled with loneliness, low mood, and a deep sense of being misunderstood. I experienced bullying, emotional disconnection, and a lack of support that left me internalising blame and feeling unable to express what I was going through. When I was 13, the sudden loss of my father introduced profound grief into an already challenging emotional landscape. Without the tools or language to process what I was feeling, I moved through adolescence and early adulthood navigating anxiety, insomnia, chronic IBS, and eventually, burnout.
At home, there were challenges that made things even harder to navigate. My sister and I had to grow up quickly—learning to be emotionally resilient and independent from a young age, though not always in ways that felt safe or supportive. We each carried our own version of the weight, and that shaped how I learned to cope—with silence, over-functioning, and often feeling alone in what I was going through.
Seeking relief, I turned to movement. Running gave me a way to release anger. Yoga gave me a way to reconnect—with my body, and eventually with my emotions. A turning point came during a yoga class, when an unexpected wave of emotion rose up through me. That moment unlocked a curiosity that led me to study mental health, trauma, the nervous system, and somatic practices. Since then, I’ve completed over 600 hours of training in trauma-informed yoga, somatic education, neuroscience, and mental health first aid.
Big Love Movement was born from everything I wish I’d had access to when I was younger: tools for self-awareness, breathwork, emotional resilience, and nervous system regulation—presented in a way that feels human, accessible, and practical. My goal is to help people build a foundation they can grow from. One that starts with curiosity and compassion, and evolves with time.
Big Love isn’t just a brand. It’s a way of being. It means cultivating self-love while expressing empathy for others. It means openness, connection, and a willingness to change. “Nothing changes if nothing changes”—and that lesson carried me through my own burnout and into a new life: shifting away from a design and buying career, partnering with Heads2Minds as their Wellbeing Lead, and curating a more aligned, multi-stream path that includes this platform.
“Movement” is more than the body—it’s a movement toward collective healing and change. Toward a culture where people are emotionally aware, mentally supported, and able to reconnect with themselves and others.
Growing up, I longed for meaningful connection. Today, I build it—with people like you. Whether you’re here to breathe, to learn, or just to feel a little less alone—I’m so glad you’ve found your way here.
Big love,
Becki Marie
